Dear Readers,

Its been quite some time since I have done one of these book tags, one of the must fun things in the book blogosphere. So here I am again, doing one, gettting on board the bandwagon. For this time around, I am doing the Anonymous Bookaholics book tag which I encountered while going through WordPress Readers. It piqued my interest and it seemed fun (I mean doing book tags is always fun) so I thought I could do my own version of this book tag.

Questions:

What do you like about buying new books?

Exploring the book store for newly released books is always an enchanting feeling. Checking on new authors and new titles is a journey in itself. There is an ecstasy as I run my hand over the cover of a new book. Even the smell of a newly printed book has the ability to arouse one’s senses. Beyond this arousal and awakening, what I like about buying new books is the anticipation of a new journey that the books I bought will give me. If only I have the capability of buying all books in the bookstore, then it would be great. Just give me all the books! Lol

There is always a different kind of joy in scouring bookshelves in book stores.

How often do you buy new books?

There is no established pattern on how often I buy books. A couple of years ago, when I was buying through Facebook sellers, I buy as often as I could. Whenever books I want to read are for sale, I don’t hesitate in buying them. Whenever I drop by the mall, I can’t resist the temptation of buying new books as well, especially if they have copies of books I have been longing to avail a copy of. But now, I am trying my best to save as much as I could. Besides, I have more than enough books to cover a year of reading.

Bookstore or online book shopping – Which do you prefer?

I prefer buying books in the bookstore. It gives me the chance to assess the book’s quality, something that I cannot do when purchasing online. Many a times I bought books online whose conditions are less than satisfactory. Some have markings, folded or damaged pages. Unfortunately, most books that I want to read (e.g. classics) are available only through online resellers. So purchasing online is still inevitable.

Do you have a favorite bookshop?

No, I don’t have a favorite bookshop. I just go to any bookstore that I can find.

Do you pre-order books?

No, I do not pre-order books.

Do you have a monthly book buying limit?

I have no monthly buying limit. But whenever I get the whim to purchase books, I limit it to at least a thousand pesos. I have to temper it otherwise I will go beyond my budget.

How big is your wishlist?

To be honest, my book wish list is very long. First off, I want to devour every book on the 1,001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. Moreover, I want to read every popular and award-winning book I could. But I still have a very long way to go.

Which three books from your wish list do you wish to own NOW?

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind

The Time Quintet by Madeleine L’Engle

Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong

I put all of these books (two of which are series haha) on my high priority list. I have long been searching for them in every book store, online and not, that I could encounter.  Unfortunately, my search have always ended up futile. Hopefully, someday I would be able to avail HARDBOUND copies of these books. It has become a caprice, this purchase of hardbound books. But hardbound books always look better on bookshelves.

Thus ends the Anonymous Bookaholics book tag. I am not going to tag any bloggers but I am hoping that those who encounter this will start there own. If you do create your own version, please don’t forget to tag me. It will be a pleasure reading your own version.

Happy reading!
