The Blogger Recognition Award

Wow. I simply couldn’t believe how blessed I am to have such readers who appreciates what I am doing. In my four years of blogging, I never for once thought that I would be nominated for any award. I guess I never had that confidence to consider myself and my blog award-worthy, even after four years of blogging.

Imagine then my surprise when I got a surprise notification. I was tagged by A Little Haze Book on her post. Reading the post, I realized that she has nominated me for The Blogger Recognition Award! I was shocked in disbelief. I was overcome by a wave of euphoria so unlike before that I was speechless.

But before I go overboard, let me first express my utmost gratitude to Emer @A Little Haze Book Blog even though it was just recent that we’ve started interacting through the blogosphere. Thank you for following me and going over my post. But more than that, I truly appreciate your nominating me for The Blogger Recognition Award. It means a lot, and I am humbled. To my fellow bookworms, you should start following A Little Haze Book Blog for its great posts and content.

This is my first award I am truly, truly happy and humbled. Writing is one thing. Being recognized for it is another. I am always grateful to everyone who recognize my hard work and endeavors.

The Pine-Scented Chronicles: The Conception

This is a story I’ve written about over and over again but I never get tired of repeating.

We have to travel back four years ago to trace my blog’s history. Back then, I was but another simple guy living a quotidian existence, gliding by every day with careless disregard. Nevertheless, I was active in social media and one Facebook friend caught my attention. She has been posting pieces that she wrote over her blog. I thought, “Wow, she is amazing for having her own blog. I wish I could do my own.” But I never did start my own blog because I was clueless (in the age of infinite information that is such a lame excuse).

It went like that for a couple of months. I would just read whatever she writes and inevitably, I got drawn into her. I contacted her; prior to that day, I never had any interactions with her although we once went to the same school. From small talks, I got her to share to me about her writing and blogging. I shared my own desire. Being the enthusiast that she is, she shared to me about WordPress and how she started. She was my first mentor. She erased my doubts and her encouraging words helped me lay the foundations for this blog. From that point on, I had no excuse to delay my plans of starting my own blog.

That was how it all begun.

At first, finding time to blog and write was a challenge. And there is the inevitable question of, “what am I going to write?” I was clueless then but I wrote whatever came to mind. However, if there is one thing that I really want to accomplish through my blogging and writing, it would be to inspire others. Unfortunately, a couple of months after starting my blog went idle due to my hectic work schedule. When my schedule got a little slack, I returned to blogging devoutly.

When I picked up the pieces again, it was all systems go. I started by sharing some experiences before sharing my travel adventures. Eventually, I started doing book blogging as it is also something that is essential in me. There are still times when I find myself doubting this endeavor but everything is a work in progress. There are still so many things for me to learn but for now, it has been a pleasure writing and sharing experiences.

To all my followers and readers, you are the backbone of The Pine-Scented Chronicles. It might have taken some time to blossom but all the labor is worth it. My readers, you are the backbone of this success, if you can call it that. I have always been vocal of my gratitude to all my followers and readers. I owe you all.

Advice for new bloggers

I recently celebrated my fourth year of blogging and to celebrate it, I shared some pieces of advice for new bloggers. Below, I believe, are the most important pieces of advice I can share:

Find the time to start. This is taken from my own experience. We all have that whimsy of pushing things behind because “they can be done tomorrow.” Believe, nothing will ever be accomplished if you keep pushing things back. The first and most important step in blogging is finding the heart to start.
Always write you. In a word that is saturated by many biases, each has become vulnerable. This pushes us to write like everyone else. But in a world where everyone can be a carbon copy of another, stand out by being you, by writing you and by staying true to yourself. You need not live up to what others expect you to be. Write from your heart. Write you. Blog you. Because your blog is an extension of you.
