It’s the last weekend before Christmas and before Christmas comes, let me do another another holiday-themed book tag. I came across another fun book tag through Stephanie over there at the Adventures of a Bibliophile. My first two holiday-themed book tags were also from her. “All I Want For Christmas Is You…” – What book do you want to see under the Christmas Tree?

Oh. Starting out with the staple Mariah Carey Christmas anthem. I get waylaid when I encounter music or songs. Anyway, on to the question.

There is a lot of books I want to receive for Christmas and in two book tags where I was asked the same, I gave different answers. However, this recent Top Five Tuesday post summarizes my heart’s current desire.

Hmmm. I’ve had quite a lot of books that I have enjoyed this year but if I have to pick one, I’ll pick the easiest one, Hiro Arikawa’s The Travelling Cat Chronicles. It is such a heartwarming, albeit heartbreaking as well, story about the relationship of a stray cat with his owner. It is a tearjerker that plucks the proverbial strings of the heart. It was an easy and pleasurable as well.

Elf – What book unleashes your inner child?

The first three books of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I loved the magic and the adventure. J.K. Rowling has mastered the art of capturing the reader’s imagination and it showed through the series. I am picking the first three books because I feel like the last four books are more young-adultish in spirit.

“It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas…” – Which book has most festive look to it?

I think Trisha Ashley’s A Winter’s Tale is the only Christmas-themed book, or at least the only one with a Christmas-y cover, in my bookshelf.

The Grinch – Your favourite villain…

I don’t know why but there is something beguiling and mysterious about Wuthering Height‘s Heathcliff. I am cognizant that there are a lot of readers who loathe him but still…

The Holiday – Name your favourite TWO couples…

This one’s a bit of difficult to find an answer to. I rarely indulge in the romantic facets of the books I read. Having said that, there are still romantic angles that I enjoyed such as Jane Eyre’s Jane and Mr. Rochester. I also liked Noah and Allie Calhoun’s story in Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook. I admit it, I once got caught in the whirlwind of cheesy and cringey love stories and lines. Haha.

What book would you like to give as a present to your followers?

I’ll just pick randomly. The book that comes to my mind this very minute is Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood and Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children. They’re two of my all time favorite reads. I truly believe everyone should read them.
