My blog updates these past few weeks have been very sparse because I have been swamped with work. I have been finding time, however, to make some updates whenever I can. Recently, I was tagged by Riddhi @ Whispering Stories to do a book tag. Even though I have already completed my quota for book tags this month (one book tag every month), I always have room for another one. So here goes my version of the Never Have I Ever Book Tag
The Rules
- Link back to original creator. (Madame Writer). I was surprised when I learned that the creator is a book blogger friend with whom I share some similar reading tastes. I love her blog so do check it out!
- Link back to the person who tagged you or the blog where you first saw this tag.
- Answer all prompts.
- Add one more prompt of your own.
- Tag at least 5 people.
- Don’t lie.
- Have fun!
Never Have I Ever…read a later book in a series before reading the first book
I am guilty of this. But at the same time innocent. You see, about 13 years ago, I was looking for a book to read in my grandparent’s house. That was when I encountered Barbara Taylor Bradford’s To Be The Best. I think my aunt owned it. With nothing else to read, I read it. I later on learned that it was the third book in the Emma Harte saga. I would go on and read the first five books of the saga. I’m thankful of this unexpected encounter for A Woman of Substance is one of my all-time favorite reads.
Never Have I Ever…burned a book
Of course not. I can’t imagine myself burning any books. Even if I hate it with a passion. I’d rather donate it or give it out than seeing it be physically defaced or burnt.
Never Have I Ever…read a book I knew I would hate
Hmmm. This one is rather difficult although I can’t remember choosing a book I knew I would dislike. I take chances on books but I don’t prejudge them. Well, I guess the day I’ll read Fifty Shades of Grey would be the day I can give a straight answer to this question.
Never Have I Ever…wrote a fanfiction about my favourite books
No. I haven’t read any fanfiction yet. The ones I’ve read make me cringe though. HAHA. Maybe because the fanfictions I have read are related to KPop.
Never Have I Ever…loved a book when I was young, yet hated it when I got older
I am not much of a re-reader so it is a bit of a challenge for me. But I don’t think there is any book I loved when I was younger and hated now. I loved them then and it can be difficult to make me change my mind about them for once upon a time, they did make me feel something special.
Never Have I Ever…dressed up as one of my favorite literary characters
No. Definitely no. Do I plan to? I don’t think so.
Never Have I Ever…hated a book by an author I love
Of course I have. This is something, I guess, that one cannot avoid. No matter how much a reader adores a certain author, the reader is bound to find a book that is not up to his/her taste. In my case, I love a lot of writers such as Sidney Sheldon (original favorite author) and Dame Agatha Christie. However, they have some works that I dislike (hate is too strong a word). I found Christie’s Hallowe’en Party lacking and is not at par with the best of her works but it doesn’t stop me from reading all of her works.
Never Have I Ever…gone into a bookstore to buy one book and come out with many more
Every devout bibliophile, I surmise, can relate to this. I am one of those who are guilty. At times, I just walk in to a bookstore without any intention of buying any books yet I walk out with at least two books in tow. HAHA!
Never Have I Ever…read the ending of a book before reading the beginning
This is something that I avoid at all costs for it defeats the purpose of reading. As far as I can recall, I have never read the ending first before reading the beginning. There were, however, times that was I tempted to peek at the ending but it was because I was already midway through the story and I wanted to know if my hunches were right (haha).
Never Have I Ever…read a book without the dust cover
I always remove the dustcover especially if the book is too bulky or the dustcover keeps on coming off. However, if the dustcover is not much of a distraction, I keep it on.
Never Have I Ever…skim read nearly half a book
Of course not.
Never Have I Ever….pretended to have read a book that I haven’t
I keep on encountering this question and I am always surprised because why would a reader pretend to read a book that he or she hasn’t really read. It defies logic? So yes, I have never pretended reading a book that I have not.
Never Have I Ever….saw the movie before the book
Of course, countless of times already. Quick examples are J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Return of the King.
So that’s my version of the Never Have I Ever Book Tag. I know I am supposed to tag (part of the rules) but I don’t want to impose on anyone. However, if you are interested in this book tag, feel free to do your own. Just don’t forget to tag me.
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!
Such a fab tag!

Loved the answers (giggled at the total affront you took at the burned books question)!
This book tag is a lot different from the ‘never have I ever’ content we used to have in our games though 🤪🤭🤐

I absolutely LOVED Christopher Pike, as a teenager. He writes YA/Syfy/paranormal/horror weirdo stuff, but oh, my god. Oh, my god! The StarLight Crystal is THE STUPIDEST sci-fi alien adventure to waste space in bookstores. You would be better off reading the 50 Shades Siri’s.

I’m so glad you did this tag! I really enjoyed reading your answers. It’s strange that I never read a book without the dust cover growing up, but recently I have been. It’s surprisingly less cumbersome than having the cover on, especially, as you said, if the book is big.
