Happy Tuesday everyone! Oh well, Tuesday also means one thing, a Top Ten Tuesday update! Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s given topic is Books With Purple, Yellow and/or Green Book Covers.

toptentuesday

As this weeks’ Top Tuesday update coincides with the Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, this week’s topic incorporates the primary colors of the Mardi Gras – Purple, Yellow, and Green. We most often associate the Mardi Gras with New Orleans, Louisiana for its colorful celebration of Fat Tuesday. This French Catholic tradition is actually observed and celebrated in various parts of the world. However, it is not a festivity here in the Philippines. Nevertheless, I am taking part in the celebration by coming up with a list of ten books which banners the primary colors of this festivity.

I didn’t have to look far and wide so I chose books from my own collection. Nevertheless, I found it quite quite challenging to choose which books to feature on this list. I did enjoy the process though for I managed to make a list which features books I loved and books I wanted to read. Going through my books, I have noted that I have very few books with purple cover. To be honest, I am quite confused on the color of Toni Morrison’s A Bluest Eye (haha). I see it as purple but the title keeps deceiving me.

Half of this list are books I have yet to read – Olga Tokarczuk’s Flights, P.D. James’ Death Comes to Pemberley, Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, Buchi Emecheta’s The Joys of Motherhood, and Elif Shafak’s The Bastard of Istanbul. Of this five, only Emecheta is unfamiliar to me for I have read at least one work of the other four. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to this novel which I chanced upon through an online bookseller. It’s also been years since I have read a novel by P.D. James; I think it’s nearly a decade so I guess I am due for one of her suspenseful works.

That’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed my list. Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! As always, happy reading, and stay safe!
