Happy Tuesday everyone! It is the second day the week. I hope everyone is doing well and is safe. Oh well, Tuesday also means one thing, a Top Ten Tuesday update! Honestly, I had a challenging time picking out titles that have a question as a title. I had to dig so deep that my memory transported me to over a decade ago, with Mary Higgins Clark’s Where Are The Children? As it has been ages ago, I can barely remember the plot but I do recall an image of a swing. It was Clarks’ first major work that brought her fame and cementing her status as one of the up and coming mystery writers of her era. She would later on have a prolific career, writing over 50 novels in her long and illustrious career, nearly half of which I have read. Higgins Clark is one of the reasons why I became a voracious reader.
Speaking of suspense, the second book in this list is from this genre. Whilst Mary Higgins Clark reigned in the United States, across the Atlantic, in the United Kingdom, Agatha Christie also built a long and illustrious career. Known as the Queen of Suspense, Christie is one of my favorite authors (also one of my most read). N or M? features the sleuthing duo of Tommy and Tuppence Beresford and is a step from Christie’s typical world of crime. N or M? incorporated elements of wartime espionage.
In the world of science fiction, Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a revered classic. For someone who is not much into science fiction, I was easily convinced to give the novel a try. I was also curious, do androids dream of electric sheep? Whilst the novel is about androids, it does not really concern itself with their dreams. It has elements of suspense, and a bit of adventure. For a non-science fiction fan, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? left a deep impression for its out-of-this-world and unique reading experience.
It was back in high school that I was initiated into the glitzy world of Sidney Sheldon. Like Mary Higgins Clark, Sheldon was a key figure in my journey to becoming a full-time reader. For the longest time, he was my favorite author. I have actually read all 18 of his novels and also his memoir, The Other Side of Me. As it has been over a decade since I read Are You Afraid of the Dark?, my memory of the novel and its plot is a little sketchy I have to admit. Apparently, it involves a machine that could control the weather (still my memory is black). I think this is the only Sheldon novel that even a synopsis could not summon my memory of it. HAHA.
So here is another Mary Higgins Clark novel, Where Are You Now? I told you, I was a huge fan of her back then. I have read 25 of her novels, just one of four novelists who I have read at least 20 works of (Danielle Steel, Agatha Christie, and Nora Roberts are the other three). Unfortunately, just like most books I have read over a decade ago, I barely have a recollection on what this novel was about. Do pardon the rusty memory. HAHA.
Unfortunately, my list fell short for I just realized that I haven’t read that many book with questions as titles. However, here are some titles that are part of my TBR list.
