Happy Tuesday everyone! As it is Tuesday, it is time for a Top Ten Tuesday update. Top Ten Tuesday is an original blog meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and is currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s given topic: Bookish Goals for 2024

1. Read 90 books. This is a conservative target considering that I ended 2022 and 2023 with at least 100 books. Still, I want to be realistic about my goals.
2. Read more translated works than works originally written in English. In my drive to establish diversity in my reading list, it is my goal to read more works written in a language other than English. In 2023, I was able to do so for the first time and I want to build on this momentum.
3. Read 50 pages a day.
4. Complete 80 book reviews. I have quite a lot of pending book reviews from my 2023 reading journey. I hope to decongest the list and publish at least 80 this year; I published at least 70 book reviews in the past four years.
5. Read four books written by a Filipino writer. This is in part driven by my goal to establish diversity in my reading list. Moreover, Philippine literature, while it is within my proximity, is largely unexplored by me. It has been my goal in the past eight years or so to read more works written by Filipino writers.
6. Read two works of nonfiction. It has been some time since I read a work of nonfiction. Most probably these will be memoirs.
7. Read more and buy less. This is an annual goal but ever since I made it part of my annual goal, I have failed. I am hoping that 2024 will be a different year.
8. Have other nationalities dominate my reading list. I have noted that I have an inordinate number of books written by American writers, in proportion to books written by other nationalities. My goal is to go more international, something that I succeeded in 2023 when Japanese writers topped the list of my most-read nationalities, followed by British writers. I hope I sustain this in 2024.
9. Read at least 15 new and 20 books from the 1,001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list.
9. Take it all in strides. As always, I don’t want to put too much pressure on my shoulders so I will enjoy the journey.
